Logo Designs
The goal of this project was to create a unique and personally influenced logo design for the Patty Sullivan Courage Foundation. The main objective of the design was to include motifs of lions or lionesses as a symbol of Patty Sullivan. This motif also has reference to the Wizard of Oz's Cowardly Lion, as it was her favorite movie.
This foundation's purpose is to provide funding for students and support cancer patients, specifically as it pertains to brain and breast cancer. They wanted something comforting, strong, and meaningful to Patty's legacy. The Mother and Cub Logo
The mother and cub logo incorporates the symbology of the lioness and cub as a reference to the courage of the Cowardly Lion in Oz. Although it isn’t an exact representation of that cowardly lion, making it a lioness protecting her cub felt more specific to the goals and meaning of your organization and story. The two tails becoming cancer ribbons gives connection to cancer, specifically brain and breast cancer, without making it the main point of the logo.
This logo represents quiet strength, motherly instinct, and a motif of motherly protection and guidance. It’s easily understandable and translates across many cultures and backgrounds, giving it a fairly universal message.

The MGM Lion Logo
This logo has two distinct motifs. For one, it references the golf tournament logo with a similar layout and signature (click to see tournament logo), giving some nice consistency between the organization and the tournament logo. The second motif is that it references the MGM (Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer) logo, The roaring lion at the beginning of many films, including the Wizard of Oz. This incorporates everything discussed in terms of colors, the lion and lion’s mane as the main symbol, and it connects directly to the film.
This logo represents and connects to a historic symbol that can bring people back to their favorite memories with their mom, watching the start of The Wizard of Oz, while the lion roars as film starts. In a way, it feels simultaneously nostalgic and reverent to mothers and childhood memories.

Conclusion
The client decided on the mother and cub logo and it was ready as is. The final steps commenced and the work was delivered!
